IASP welcomes you to the Submission Site for the 14th International Symposium on Pediatric Pain

You will be able to submit a proposal to be considered for presentation at the 14th International Symposium on Pediatric Pain 2023. The International Symposium on Pediatric Pain (ISPP) is the premier international, interdisciplinary, meeting on pain in infants, children, and adolescents, organized by the Pain in Childhood Special Interest Group (SIG) of the International Association for the Study of Pain.

The 2023 meeting will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia from 1-4 October 2023, under the theme “Better Together: Innovation through Partnerships”.

Proposals in all areas of pediatric pain are eligible for submission. Proposals may consider linking to the theme, for example addressing partnerships with patients and stakeholders, within team science or across disciplines, or by incorporating innovative approaches to pain treatment, research, and education. Diversity by country/region and/or professional/training background, as well as the inclusion of a junior presenter and/or a patient or caregiver, is encouraged. Proposals addressing equity, diversity, and inclusion will be seen as a strength.

Three Types of Proposals:

Symposia
Symposia consist of groups of abstracts submitted together around a common theme. The presentations tend to be data-driven on projects completed or near completion but can also include presentations that do not include empirical data. Each symposium will be 75 minutes in length, with a maximum of 3 speakers, 15-20 mins per speaker with 15-30 mins discussion.

Workshop
Workshops follow a similar format to symposia, with data-driven presentations, but include opportunities for “hands-on” experience. Each workshop will be 75-90 minutes in length, with 3-5 presenters/facilitators. Workshops must include at least 30 mins “hands-on” time. Examples include quantitative sensory testing workshops, virtual reality workshops, patient engagement workshops, and digital intervention workshops.

Panel Discussion
Panel Discussion is an audience-interactive format in which panelists make short, relatively informal presentations that serve as a springboard for further discussion among panelists and with the audience. Each Panel Discussion will be 60-75 minutes in length. In proposing a Panel Discussion, your abstract must indicate who will chair the session, what format it will take, and who will participate as panelists (no more than 5).

Please note that individuals may be involved in a maximum of two symposia/workshop/panel discussion proposals.

Key Dates:
