Early Career/Trainee Activities


In order to support and address the needs of Early Career/Trainee members, improve their career prospects, and foster the next generation of IASP leaders, the ISPP 2023 Scientific Committee is pleased to announce the following activities geared toward Early Career/Trainee attendees.  

These activities are intended to provide opportunities for students, trainees, and early career faculty to advance career development skills and build professional networks.

Early Career/Trainee Reception  
1 October: 18:00-19:00 
Exhibition Hall, Ballroom B1, Halifax Convention Center 

The Early Career/Trainee Reception is by invitation only for Early Career/Trainee delegates, senior mentors, and plenary speakers to network informally. Attendees will enjoy beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, and passed canapes after some brief welcome remarks. 

Early Career/Trainee Lounge 
1-4 October: 07:00-17:00
Ballroom foyer, Halifax Convention Center  

Early Career/Trainee delegates are invited to stop by and network with senior mentors. 

Early Career/Trainee Mentoring Sessions 
2 October: 17:00-18:30 
Ballroom foyer, Halifax Convention Center 

Early Career/Trainee participants will be paired with a mentor as a function of their areas of expertise and topics they are interested in discussing. If you have not signed up for a mentoring session but would like to participate, sign-up will be available on-site.

Early Career/Trainee Grant Writing Workshop 
3 October: 13:45–15:00

The session will provide expert advice on best practices for successful grant writing from a number of different perspectives, including clinical trials, human subjects research, and basic science.  Information on how different funding agencies review proposals will also be discussed.  The panel will open up with brief overviews by each of our panelists, followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
